Remember when they (yeah...the nebulous "they") taught you about the 70s feminism movement and the whole idea that the personal is political? Well...even if you were too tired/drunk/stoned to crack the history book the first time around...let's try that topic again.
Basically, the saying the personal is political implies that everything in your private realm is up for public scrutiny/debate/discussion. Is that really the case? You may be tempted to say hell no...that affair I have been having for 6 months...no one knows about and so no one's talking. But seriously, take a step back--we might not be talking about you particular situation, but we certainly are discussing the issue of adultery (and many others) on a broad level...sometimes even a policy level.
If you're with me so far...then let's extend that thought a little further. If each of these deep dark secrets is being discussed by our peers and policy makers on some level, then maybe we have nothing to hide. Maybe we should just lay ourselves bare...be willing to discuss anything and everything...no longer sulk and lick our wounds in private, but expose them for the whole world to see, to pass judgment on and ultimately help us heal. Scary thought, eh? But maybe a powerful one, a liberating one...one that will allow us to love and be loved for who we really are.

Hmm.... I'm wondering if your new friends have offered some fodder as of late?
It's really a good point though. It's not like I'm the only one who's ever experienced a relationship train-wreck before. As much as we all like to internalize things and think we're the only one that's ever experienced it everyone has, and talking about it often makes it better.
Jb
Haha...maybe those new friends have sparked a few ideas ;).
