Get Your Feet on the Street
This site will allow you to see the "walkability" of where you live. Sure, there are some caveats, but overall it gives a good idea of whether you can get out and about easily from your front door. Check it out for where you live now, and keep it in mind for your next move! My present location rated an 80 out of 100...not too bad!

I did the walkability test for both my apartment and my work. Surprise surprise things are better in DC than VA...
